How to Maintain and Clean a Wrapped Vehicle

Practical washing and care advice to keep a vinyl wrap looking its best.

A wrap rewards consistent, gentle care. Most problems come from harsh chemicals, abrasive tools or contaminants left on the film for too long.

Washing

  • Hand wash with a pH-neutral car shampoo
  • Use clean microfiber mitts and the two-bucket method
  • Rinse thoroughly and dry with a soft microfiber towel
  • Avoid automatic brush car washes

Pressure washers

If you use one, keep a safe distance and never aim directly at film edges or seams, where water pressure can lift the vinyl.

Matte and satin finishes

Do not polish or wax matte or satin films — it can create shiny patches. Use products designed for those finishes. Our finish guide explains the differences.

Remove contaminants quickly

Bird droppings, tree sap and fuel spills can affect film if left to sit, especially in heat. Clean them off promptly.
